ConfirmationCamp:About
From ConfirmationCamp
HARRISBURG AREA CONFIRMATION CAMP is a week long experience for youth living out their baptismal experience together. The focus of the week has specific catechetical goals for youth, yet the learning is largely experiential. In fact, it is through the combined experience of group study, recreation, sports, worship together, and small group living experiences that youth learn what it means to be The Church, and how baptism becomes the basis for that experience.
Confirmation Camp is the product of 25 or more member Parishes in and surrounding Harrisburg, who together administer and provide staff and counselors from its ranks of pastors, youth leaders, and lay people. Confirmation Camp is held at Camp Nawakwa, in Adams County, one of the most popular sites of our Synod's camping facilities. Camp is traditionally scheduled the third week in June, with application deadlines in early April. Any youth participating must be rostered through one of the member Parishes.
Four independent curricula support the goals of Confirmation Camp:
Campers have completed 8th grade.
God's Gifted People GGP have completed 9th grade.
Maturing in the Body of Christ MBC have completed 10th grade.
Leadership Training LT and CLAY have completed 11th grade.
Most living experiences, including daily Eucharist, sports events, meals, evening campfires and other programs integrate the four tracts into one community of Christ.
Youth return from Confirmation Camp to their individual parishes enabled to share their own personally enriched spirituality and enthusiasm to the ministries of their home parish and its youth ministry.
