This is a new track created starting in 2008

What does it mean for us to be disciples of Jesus Christ? How do we respond to the call to live faithfully in the world as his Church? We are pleased to announce the addition of a new track to camp to help answer these questions: Discipleship. Led by Pastor Steve Bowser, the Discipleship track is available to all those post-L.T. age and up (or college and beyond)(1). The material of the track will include studies on the life and ethics of Dietrich Bonhoeffer (2) with an emphasis on Faith in Action, Cross-carrying discipleship, the relationship between faith and obedience to God, Christian ethics, and Biblical authority. Though this track will participate in parts of the overall life of the camp, it will be distinct from the previous tracks both in terms of content and at times the larger camp schedule. Staff of this track includes Pastor Steve Bowser, Chelle Huth, Chris Long, and Dr. Robin Steinke (Dean of Gettysburg Seminary).

More information about this track will be made available in February but, college age and up should mark their calendars for Confirmation Camp 2008 if they are interested in returning as part of this track. (1)

Notes:

(1) - Those eligible for this track are post-L.T. age and up (or college and beyond). This concept may be confusing for some so ill do my best to explain it. "post-L.T. and up (college and beyond)" means anyone is eligible to participate as long as they are a senior in high school or older. There is no upper limit to this age bracket! The track is for everyone and anyone sincerely interested in the topics and discussion around Discipleship. Warning: This track is NOT for people who are just looking for a way to return to camp another year.

(2) - Bonhoeffer was a German Lutheran pastor who grew up during WWI and fought the Nazis from inside Germany during WWII. Because of his outspokenness against the Nazis and his involvement in assassination plots against Hitler, he was captured and imprisoned in 1943 and hung in 1945. He was Master Chief meets Pastor Fox and is commemorated as a theologian and martyr by the ELCA.
